The Heavy Haulage group enables members to meet and discuss common issues and propose solutions that can help improve safety and productivity.
An issue raised by one member of the group led to a successful national campaign that ended with deputy Prime Minister announcing an independent national review of Over Size Over Mass permit system.
This demonstrates the power of WRF membership, that a member concern can lead all the way to the deputy Prime Minister’s office. And all that happened under the leadership of our heavy haulage group.
Current Issues
The group is currently working on a number of issues, some of which include:
- Low powerlines
- Traffic Escort Warden shortage
- A national Heavy Haulage Operator Conference
- Proposed changes to permit fee’s
